8:00 pm - Lamentation of Times Past

It's been a couple years since we, the Denny's Crew, congregated last. Denny's holds the record for the most funny, outrageous, and off-the-wall-crazy moments in any one location since my move to Florida. The crew has, for the most part, dissipated, losing members to geographical location/distance, real-life responsibilities, and even death.

Alas, what I wouldn't give for another sit-down, wee-hours-of-the-morning breakfast with yall, the most motley of crews. Yall and the times we shared at Denny's will always hold a very special place in my heart. <3

2:08 pm - It was a disappointing night...

Well, Denny's re-opened on Monday, February 21st at 10pm. The Crew didn't make it there that night, but we did the following. What did we find? We found that there were four changes to the place and that is hardly should have taken this long to re-open. Here's how the night went:

-First part of group arrives at Denny's around 12:30am
-First part of group orders food around 12:40am
-Second part of group arrives around 12:55am
-Second part of group orders food around 1:05am
-At about 2am, the food is delivered to the table
-Food is all wrong. John's Moons has bacon on it,
Will's Boca Burger is all-beef, Homefries put on
the wrong plate, David never got his Moons.
-Lady at the new bar counter had been sitting there
since shortly after the first group arrived and her
order has still not been taken.

So yeah, the first night at the "new" Tequesta Denny's was not a pleasant experience. There only seemed to be five real changes made to the place; 1) The new bar counter in the front 2) The new booths with their Italy theme 3) The new cook, who repeatedly told DJ to sit down in his seat with a menacing look 4) The new computer system which would not work, therefore we had to wait to pay our bills 5) Gladys dyed her hair ash blonde. Yeah. Now, I'm not saying I will never go back to that Denny's, because that would certainly be untrue. I will, however, try my best to stick to the one on Northlake. Word. In closing, here are a couple pictures of the "BRAND NEW" Denny's.

Peace and LOVE!!!

3:13 pm - See What Happens???

I moved from Jupiter, FL to Kentucky for college and started working at the Denny's down the street from UK. My nametag read "Hedwig" serving you since 1"...really weeds out the customers you want to stick around til 5am with 2 hours after your shift is through. Once the whole No Smoking bit occured, I would find randomly placed sad faces reading "Cigarrette smoke ruined my meal" when the local teens and old men ( both of which feeling like the world owes them something ) would light up in a corner booth.

When I got my mohawk I had to quit.

Goddammit..... <3 3rd shift

10:56 am - This really has nothing to do with Denny's but might be of intrest to someone living in Jupiter

I currently work for a band and orchestra instrument dealer called American Music. We are looking for employees for our upcoming busy season. My managers are really looking for someone to work starting now through Sept. but I have a feeling that by the end of the week they will be looking for any help that can get for early and mid Aug. Knowledge of classical instruments is a plus but not a necessity.
If you are interested, or know of anyone that might be, please feel free to call at 745-8009 or stop in (we are located on Indiantown Rd. in the Windixie Shopping Center, next to the dry cleaners and the new Atlantic Arts Academy).

So, this'll be the first post to the Denny's Crew made in quite some time. However, it needs to be reported: rednecks have damaged one of our booths.

Last night, after seeing Michael Moore's newest opus, Fahrenheit 9/11, myself, Suzanne, Erika, Adam, Courtney and Ect. (for those of you who don't live in the area, we might be described as Hardcore Liberals) decided it would be a good idea to end the night by making a trip to the Denny's. Always a good idea.

As we entered, we saw a small group of three rednecks (or "hillbillies," as my mother calls them) sitting at the booth directly accross from our table. You see, these were the sneaky kind: only a hint of trash about them, at least visually. In fact, if they hadn't been stumbling around drunk or high or SOMETHING, laughing uproariously in that horse-like, braying way that only the Sons of the South can pull off...well, they might have almost been real people.

In any case, we ignored them and proceeded to order. We then began to discuss, in a fairly muted way (for us) the movie we'd just seen. It was about this point that they...well, I can't think of a better way to describe it than to say that they shattered the booth they were sitting in. The back of the booth literally became three or four distinct pieces.

Gladys (our elderly waitress) was pissed off. I expected her to pull out a can of matronly whoop-ass. However, she just grumbled a bit.

To be honest, I thought it was a little funny. Adam got up and took pictures (which I fully expect him to post here) and we thought it was the end of it.

Not so. Apparently, lacking anything of significant value, Cletus, Lu-Lu Belle, and Scrappy (I'm just assuming these were their names) decided it would be a keen idea to make commentary on what we were talking about. I wasn't really listening to what they said, but I did catch a few things. Anyone else who can remember other comments, feel free to add.

1) Apparently we are the type of people who vote for, and I quote, "niggers and spics."

2) We were actually accused of being communist.

Then they left. leaving our poor booth in shambles. Left behind was a Crash Bandicoot holding an american flag. I liberated this poor doll from the booth and placed it at our booth. Scrappy eventually returned, accused me to stealing his "dog," despite Crash's obviously Bandicooten ancestry, and, because it was holding Old Glory, said, "You don't want that...you're a democrat."

As he walked away, I shouted, "Actually, I'm registered independant..."

He didn't reply.

In many ways, their treatment of the both might be compared to the US invasion of Iraq. They took what they needed (in this case, delicious pancakes) ignored the protests of the natives (Gladys) insulted the sensibilities of objectors (us) and then left quickly and quietly (much like U.S. ambassador Paul Bremer leaving Iraq yesterday). Also, I noticed no Weapons of Mass Destruction in the booth. Perhaps we just needed to look a Little Longer. I'm not sure.

3:58 am - Remember Denny's?

This place has been fucking DEAD! I was sifting through my computer and found this from two or three years ago. This is what happens when you leave the front desk un-manned at 2am. Let it be a lesson to all...

In honor of the coolest person on the face of the earth

And for anyone in the North Florida Area that may be missing the environment of Tequesta Denny's Check out Corams In Panama City, it has the same atmosphere, but is missing one important thing. The love of my life, Gladys

You're lookin' at the latest Denny's server.

Come on in and tip me well, bitches.

And so it turns out, everyone who worked at Dennys when Gladys was there, said she was horrible and lazy, despite her being nice.

1:31 am - "Hi hi hi there, O my brothers..."

"There was me, that is Adam, and my fellow droogs, that is Niki, Bobby, Danny, Meryl, Josh, Suzanne, Erika and John, John being really John, and we sat in the Denny's making up our rassodocks what to do with the evening, a flip dark chill winter bastard though dry."

Well, it seems the Denny's Crew has grown. Here I am not really paying attention to it--thinking it would never go anywhere--and the next thing I know, there are 28 members...even have someone from another country now I'm told? Coolness. Well all, welcome to the community...tell your friends about it. This is where you all get to post your wonderful Denny's experiences for everyone (perhaps even the whole world) to read. It is good times.

Alright...and now a special message for the members of the Tequesta Denny's Crew Chapter...I was hoping to do a "GLADYS MEMORIAL" for the community. Unfortunately, I was told a little late that she had quit. The "crew" managed to track her down though...so for all of those who wishes to see Gladys again, she now works at the 45th Street Cracker Barrel. I recommend going when it's slow....reeeeeaaaally slow. Ok, that is all for now...everyone have a pleasant night. Peace annd LOVE!!!

8:23 pm - It's all about the mini burgers!

Hey I'm new here, but Denny's is my life, so I think I'll fit in just right. In L.A., I'd go to the same one all the time at three in the morning to get my free shot of cherry syrup. You know they'll put it in just about anything?

A friend of mine once went in there with a shot glass and asked the waiter to fill it up with cherry syrup. He came back with three more small glasses filled with the syrup and proceeded to take cherry shots with everyone at the table.

What else, hmmm, my friend Ellary and I once tried to sleep on the beach ( a shady idea in the city of Los Angeles), and instead, left the beach at around four a.m. to head over to Denny's. We were so sandy and didn't have any shoes on because they were soaked from the water, but Mark served us anyways.

Oooh, and I have a collection of stuffed animals I've retrieved from the "claw" toy machine at my local Denny's. I must have spent at least twenty dollars trying to get this one goddamned teddy bear. Maan, it's all for a goood cause...support your local Denny's!

Man, that establishment really feeds my alcohol and drug habits because where else can you get a 7up with cherry syrup and the $3.99 grand slam breakfast at any hour of the day!? (One thing, why is the grand slam so cheap and all the other breakfast combos with the same items are like $7.99? Is the grand slam the meal they accidentally dropped on the floor?)
